WAGGON WHEEL® Bluemat Penstemon
Penstemon caespitosus ‘P022S'

WAGGON WHEEL® bluemat penstemon grows in circular, evergreen mats, earning its name WAGGON WHEEL®. This charming, low growing penstemon has tiny, spoon-like leaves in a vibrant, kelly green color. Small, tubular flowers glow blue to lavender from early June to July. WAGGON WHEEL® bluemat penstemon works well as a living mulch among taller perennials or as a low-growing "spiller" that can cascade over rocks and walls.
Native to mountainous areas in western Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Arizona, this attractive and resilient penstemon prefers well-drained soil, but is adaptable to clay loam conditions. It does not like to be over-watered, making it perfect for waterwise gardens!
Tips from the pros: This penstemon develops semi-woody branches, so avoid planting it in areas that may be walked upon. Can be slow growing.
