2014 Partner Award Winners Announced
We are pleased to announce the 2014 Partner award winners. The awards were given out at the annual meeting for Demonstration Gardens on October 8 at Denver Botanic Gardens.
The Individual Partner Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to Plant Select® through their involvement, participation or actions. There are two Individual Partner Award winners for 2014. The first, Scott Skogerboe, of Fort Collins Wholesale Nursery, a man who has dedicated years of exploring the Cheyenne Experimental Station to bring forward several Plant Select® winners and is always on the lookout for plants that are successful and beautiful here in the west.
Diana Reavis is a wholesale plant broker with Eason Horticultural Services and has been a very active participant in the Plant Select® program for over a decade. She promotes Plant Select® to all of her customers as well as to public gardens she visits on her travels around the region.
The Organizational Partner Award recognizes a company or organization which has made a significant contribution toward the mission and vision of Plant Select®. The 2014 Organizational Partner Award winner is Center Greenhouse of Denver. Center Greenhouse grows wholesale pre-finished plugs and annuals, perennials, herbs, ornamental grasses and designer hanging baskets which are sold in the Colorado and Southern Wyoming markets. They have been with Plant Select® since the beginning of the program, growing a huge variety of the plants, adopting many of them as soon as they are introduced to the program.
The Golden Shovel Award acknowledges a Demonstration Garden partner exhibiting superior design and use of Plant Select® plants while providing excellent educational opportunities to visitors. The 2014 Golden shovel award winner is CSU Extension – Adams County, Brighton, Colorado.
The Showcase Garden Award acknowledges the efforts and achievements of a public garden toward education and promotion of the mission and goals of Plant Select®. The 2014 Showcase Garden Award recipients are: Durango Botanical Society, Sedalia Demonstration Gardens, Yampa Botanic Park, and Horticultural Arts Society.
