2012 Partner Award winners announced

We are pleased to announce the 2012 Partner award winners. The awards were given out at the annual meeting for Demonstration Gardens on June 6 at Denver Botanic Gardens.

The Individual Partner Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to Plant Select® through their involvement, participation or actions. The 2012 Individual Partner Award winner is Harlan Hamernik of HH Wild Plums (Clarkson, Nebraska), specializing in the production of hardy, adapted woody plants of long-season interest for the Great Plains.

The Organizational Partner Award recognizes a company or organization which has made a significant contribution toward the mission and vision of Plant Select®.The 2012 Organizational Partner Award winner is Bluebird Nursery, growers of perennials, herbs, grasses and wildflowers in Clarkson, Nebraska. Bluebird Nursery was one of the founding members of Plant Select® and carries a wide range of plants from the program.

The Showcase Garden Award acknowledges the efforts and achievements of a public garden toward education and promotion of the mission and goals of Plant Select®. The 2012 Showcase Garden Award winner is Monarch Spur Park in Salida, Colorado.

The Golden Shovel Award acknowledges a Demonstration Garden partner exhibiting superior design and use of Plant Select® plants while providing excellent educational opportunities to visitors. The 2012 Golden shovel award winner is the Montrose Botanic Gardens in Montrose, Colorado.
