2013 Partner Award Winners Announced

We are pleased to announce the 2013 Partner award winners.  The awards were given out at the annual meeting for Demonstration Gardens on June 13 at Denver Botanic Gardens.

 

Michael Bone, Denver Botanic Gardens, Plant Select

Dr. Jim Klett (CSU) and Brian Vogt (DBG) present the Individual Partner Award to Michael Bone.

The Individual Partner Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to Plant Select® through their involvement, participation or actions.  The 2013 Individual Partner Award winner is Michael Bone, curator of Steppe Collection and propagator at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Mike was chosen for this years’ award because of his personal passion and vision for the Plant Select® program and its mission.








Beth Zwinak, Ginger Jennings, Plant Select

Dr. Jim Klett presents the Organization Partner Award to Beth Zwinak and Ginger Jennings of Tagawa Gardens.

The Organizational Partner Award recognizes a company or organization which has made a significant contribution toward the mission and vision of Plant Select®.  The 2013 Organizational Partner Award winner is Tagawa Gardens, retail growers of rose bushes, specialty annuals, perennials, container gardens, poinsettias and other crops in Centennial, Colorado.  They are one of the largest retail suppliers of Plant Select® in the region, carrying the widest range of plants, from perennials and ground covers to trees and shrubs.  They regularly participate in marketing meetings making sure we’re representing the voice of retailers.







Carnegie Library Public Garden, Plant Select

Dr. Jim Klett presents the Golden Shovel Award to Carla Anderson.

The Golden Shovel Award acknowledges a Demonstration Garden partner exhibiting superior design and use of Plant Select® plants while providing excellent educational opportunities to visitors. The 2013 Golden shovel award winner is the Carnegie Library Public Garden in Colorado Springs.

 

The Showcase Garden Award acknowledges the efforts and achievements of a public garden toward education and promotion of the mission and goals of Plant Select®.  The 2014 Showcase Garden Award winners are:  Lefthand Water District Waterwise Garden in Niwot, Colorado and Pueblo West Xeriscape Garden in Pueblo, Colorado.
